This Vail Colorado family photo session was such a beautiful time. The late fall evening was so perfect, with the yellow trees on the Vail mountains and tall golden grasses. I love this location for sunset photos, it's such a special place.

We caught that magic time just as the sun sets over the ridge line, creating a beautiful soft glowing light.

Being a photographer in the Vail Colorado mountains, it's really important to me to have a good understanding of how the light is going to play out and develop throughout a photo session. I love having different lighting scenarios to use as the sun shifts, and begins to set over a mountain ridge. There's such a brief moment in time to get this type of "magic hour lighting", but the spaces just before and after are also so beautiful.
