FAQs

General

Where are you based out of?

A.I live in the Vail Valley full time, year round. I include up to 45 minutes of travel for family or engagement sessions, and up to 1 hour for wedding or elopement photography.

When and how will we receive our photos?

A.Couples, engagement, family and portrait sessions will receive their images within 1 week of our session.

Wedding and elopement galleries will be delivered within 8-10 weeks from your date. I know it can be hard to wait (the anticipation!), but rest assured I am taking the time and care to create the most beautiful photos for your lasting memories.

All images are delivered via an email link to your own private gallery with images. Once you have that link you can download, share and print to your hearts delight!

How many pictures will we receive?

A.I don't have a guaranteed number of images as each session is unique and different. I strive to capture all the special moments of our time together and will provide around 60 images per hour of shooting time.

What is the booking process?

A.To officially book with me I will create a unique photo contract covering the details we discuss on our call together. I require a 30% deposit to officially book. Once those two steps are both complete, you are officially on my schedule!

How does payment work?

A.I require 30% of the total as a deposit to officially book your date (for any type of photos).
Remaining payment for weddings and elopements is due 1 month prior to your date, and 1 week in advance for engagement, family and portrait sessions.

I'm so awkward in front of the camera! How do I pose?

A.Almost all my clients say this at the beginning of our session! Rest assured I am very hands on with direction and posing, while still creating a candid and natural look for your photos. I want you to feel confident and have fun with your photos!

What location should we go to for photos?

A.This varies based on your session type. If you're booking an elopement, couples/engagement session, or family session with me I am happy to suggest locations and find the perfect spot based on what you're looking for! I am also happy to suggest wedding venues and locations as well.

What if it there's weather?

A.Often times weather can actually enhance the look of our photos and create a super fun sessions! I may slightly ask to adjust the timing if there's weather in the forecast, but am happy to move forward with our session. If there's extreme weather that will create a negative experience or cause potential harm to my equipment, then I am happy to reschedule when it works for both of us.

What's your cancelation policy?

A.Once your contract and deposit are taken care of, you are booked in with me. Of course if there's an emergency, someone is sick, travel delays, etc. then I am happy to discuss options with you.

What's the best time for photos?

A.I always recommend early morning or early evening for lighting, but I'm always open to talk about the best time for your availability and needs!

What should we wear?

A.This is a common question with family photos in particular. There's no "right" answer here- I always say to wear something you love and you're comfortable in to start. Coordinating, light neutral colors also help group photos look more cohesive. I suggest staying away from small patterns or prints (they can sometimes get lost in the photos and create a busy feeling).

Now let's keep in mind the season/background (for outdoor sessions).

Spring/Summer photos will be primarily green in the background- so if you want the contract to pop I suggest wearing warm colors, and if you want to stay more subtle I suggest wearing cool neutrals (creams, grays, light blues, etc.).

Fall backdrops are going to have a more bright, vibrant warm color palette! Yellow is the main color for the fall in Colorado (Aspen trees), so keep this in mind. Again, if you want contrast go with cool colors, and if you want a more subtle look I suggest neutrals or light warm colors.

Lastly we have winter. This is when the background is mainly going to be white and snowy, so any color will stand out and provide contrast here. I you want your photos to pop then any colors will work here- if you want a more subtle feeling then I suggest light neutrals.

Weddings and Elopements

Do you help with planning?

A.I'm happy to help you with general planning and ideas! I also know some incredible vendors I am happy to put you in touch with, and am always here to go over ideas and details.

Can you help with my day of timeline?

A.Yes! I love to help create the perfect timeline to revolve around your ideal day and photos.

Do you travel?

A.Yes, I love to travel for photos! Get in touch to let me know where you'r location is and we can discuss specifics.

What do you wear for our wedding day?

A.May seem like a random one, but I get asked this question enough to include here :)
For weddings- I dress in dark elevated yet subtle attire (think practical to work yet nice enough for a wedding guest).
For elopements I dress for practicality in the environment and carrying around my equipment- think hiking boots, pants and layers.

Do I need a second shooter?

A.I am confident I can capture all the special details and moments of your wedding solo, but having another photographer there is never a bad thing!
I recommend having a second shooter if your wedding is over 125 people and if you have multiple locations for the day.
If you decide you want a second shooter there, I take care of that with one of the photographers I work with. All their images taken will be edited by me, so there will be a consistent and cohesive look to your finished images.

Have more questions? I'm here for that.
