november wedding at the beaver creek chapel
The Beaver Creek Chapel is beautiful all times of year, a very quaint stone chapel building nestled at the base of the world famous ski resort in Colorado. The quintessential steeple and overall architecture of the building is so pretty- and even during a shoulder season wedding it makes for beautiful photos.
Should season or "off season" in the mountains is based around the seasonality of the area and available activities. Peak Winter (ski season), Summer and Fall are considered within season, while there are some slower months as the seasons take their time to slowly change fully over. This can be a lovely time for a wedding or elopement in some small mountain towns here in Colorado! The rates of pretty much everything can often be lower, there's more availability, and less people around- all lending to an easy going and potentially more accessible experience. It landscape can be the in-between feeling after the leaves have dropped but the snow hasn't come yet, but there are always beautiful locations and backgrounds to be found here in the mountains.
The Beaver Creek Chapel is located just up the hill a bit from the main base village area of Beaver Creek Colorado. It's within walking distance to the village, the gondola, and some beautiful nature areas for photos. There aren't really huge mountain peak views from around the chapel, but with a short drive (or walk for the adventurous couple) there are some beautiful views to be had within Beaver Creek.
There's also the option to ride the gondola up with a scenic lift ticket! This is available in the summer and winter, but certainly want to check times and be mindful of accessibility if this is something you're considering. There are gorgeous views from the top of the mountain that you can't really get at the base village area. For this particular wedding we started at the Beaver Creek Chapel with the ceremony and family photos, then the bride and groom came with me to explore the Vail Valley for more photos- we ended in Vail Village for some of those classic Vail locations in photos!
This couple visit Beaver Creek and Vail often for skiing, so getting some photos with a gondola was high on their priority list for photos! Luckily we were able to make it happen for them even though the lifts weren't quite running just yet. It helps having options between Vail, Beaver Creek and Bachelor gulch as well!
Back to a tried and true location for mountain peak views in the background- this location always has the best views regardless of the season or time of year. I also love that you can see Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch in the background from this location. This couple got engaged in Bachelor Gulch and married at Beaver Creek so it was special to be able to see both locations from this overlook point.
Some classic Vail Village locations are always so fun for wedding photos
Last stop of the wedding day photo tour was Vail Village for some classic Vail locations throughout the village! We hit the best spots, and ended at the base of the mountain where there was a small patch of snow- perfect for popping a bottle of bubbles to celebrate!
